SAT I or ACT Most of the schools will accept SAT I or ACT scores but, it is important to check the requirements with the schools your planning to apply.
Here are some of the most significant differences between the SAT I and ACT: • The ACT is more a curriculum based test. • The SAT I includes more critical thinking questions. • The ACT includes a science reasoning section. • The math section in the ACT includes trigonometry questions. • The verbal section in the SAT I tests more vocabulary than the ACT. • The verbal section in the ACT tests grammar. • There are penalties for wrong answers in multiple choice questions in the SAT I. There are not penalties for wrong answers in the ACT.
Many applicants are
taking both tests. You can take the SAT I and the ACT and submit the
one you performed better, comparatively speaking.
Consider that, schools
score requirements for SAT I and ACT are based on how the applicants
perform in a particular test. You could think that you performed better
in the ACT however, your SAT I score might be your best opportunity
to get in the school of your preference.
See here a score comparison between the SAT I and ACT, provided by The College Board. |
